During my career as a minister, I encountered human vulnerability and myriad responses to grief. However, I often felt that my theological training was limited in helping me to assist those I was working with in making the unconscious conscious so that psychic growth could more fully occur. This prompted me to make a career change and become a psychoanalyst and to study at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NYC).
