Karen H Senecal-Davis, NcPsyA

Today you are one step closer to a new you, a you who feels empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being.

As a licensed psychoanalyst and psychotherapist, my goal is to help you uncover your passions and true potential. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand them and resolve challenges in your present life. Together we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

My Practice

I completed my five-year training in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies and have been in private practice since 2013. I am Director of Training at The Training Institute for Mental Health, where I design curriculum and work directly with the institutes candidates and faculty members, and I am a certified in Psychoanalytic Supervision.

I am a queer-identified therapist who is sex-positive and affirmative, and I have expertise in issues facing trans, gender non-conforming and/or LGBQ individuals. For parents of LGBTQ+ children and adolescents, I offer a supportive environment in which to explore myriad feelings that can arise. I am committed to being an anti-racist clinician.

In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to specific individual needs, to help each patient attain the personal growth they’re striving for.

I am committed to being anti-racist, and I am open to anyone interested in working psychotherapeutically, regardless of race, religion, political affiliation, sexual or gender identity.

My specialties include depression and anxiety; sexual and gender identity; support for parents raising LGBTQ+ children/adolescents; support for people working in social justice movements; and issues pertaining to grief and loss.

I believe the best predictor of effective therapy is the quality of the patient-therapist relationship. My approach to treatment is empathic and collaborative. I am flexible and responsive to the particular needs and challenges of each individual patient.
